New Look, Same Great Hair: We Rebuilt the Website
If you visited our old website recently, Its now all new!
For nearly two decades, The Edge Hair Studio has had a website. It's been out there since 2007 — black background, olive green accents, a grid layout that made perfect sense at the time, and a navigation menu that lived at the very bottom of the page because that's just where menus went back then, and was perfect.
But the internet kept moving, phones got smarter, and our site quietly became a window into a very specific era of web design.
The Edge Hair Studio has a new website
What's New
Everything, honestly. But here's what matters most: The new site looks and works exactly as it should whether you're on your laptop, your tablet, or your phone in the parking lot outside. It's easy to find what you need - services and pricing are all in one place. We’ve added a bit more info on our team, and are starting to showcase our excellent portfolio of style!
Introducing The Edit
This page — the one you're reading right now — is new too. We're calling it The Edit, and it's where we'll be sharing hair tips, seasonal trend roundups, product spotlights, treatment guides, and a look at what's happening inside the studio throughout the year.
We've got posts already lined up covering everything from fall colour trends to the science behind healthy hair treatments. We'll be adding to it regularly, and if there's something specific you'd like to see covered, send us a message — we'd love to hear from you.
Instagram Is Coming Back to Life
Here's the other thing we want to tell you about: the Instagram account is coming out of hibernation. Follow us > @theedgehair
It's been quiet over there — life in the chair keeps you busy in the best way, and the phone stayed in the pocket more often than not. But we've been inspired, and we're ready to show up online with the same energy we bring to work every day.
What to expect when you follow along:
Real work from the chair — cuts, colours, and transformations from actual clients
Quick, practical hair tips — the kind that are actually useful, not just pretty
Behind-the-scenes moments from the studio
Seasonal promotions and offers — the easiest way to stay in the loop
A bit of personality — because that's never going away
We're not going to post every single day. But we are going to show up consistently and give you something genuinely worth following. It's the same commitment we make in the chair — just on a smaller screen.
Thank You
Whether you've been a client for fifteen years or you just found us for the first time — thank you for being here. The new website is built for you: to make it easier to find us, understand what we do, and feel confident booking that first or next appointment.
The hair has always been great. The website matches.

Spring's Biggest Hair Trends — and How to Make Them Work for You
The season is shifting, the light is coming back, and somehow your hair feels ready for something new. Here's what we're seeing in the chair this spring — and how to make it work for your life.
For Her
The overarching theme this spring is effortlessness. Clients are moving away from high-maintenance styles that require an hour of daily effort, and toward cuts and colours that look great with minimal intervention.
The '70s continue to influence everything — soft layers that add movement without bulk, natural texture celebrated rather than smoothed away, and a general looseness that feels relaxed and confident. If you've been thinking about layers but were worried about losing length, spring is the season to try them. Done right, they actually make your hair look fuller and healthier, not shorter.
Curtain bangs remain one of the most requested styles we're seeing, and for good reason — they're flattering across face shapes, grow out gracefully, and work with straight, wavy, and curly hair alike. If you've been sitting on the idea, consider this your nudge.
On the colour side, lived-in blondes are having a major moment — think sun-kissed, slightly grown-out, natural-looking lightness rather than a sharp all-over blonde. Coppery reds are also trending strongly, ranging from a warm auburn tint right through to a full, rich copper. Both work beautifully with L'Oréal Professionnel's colour lines, which give us the ability to customise the tone precisely to your skin tone and existing colour.
For Him
Men's hair this spring is leaning clean, classic, and slightly longer than the past few years. The very short, tight cuts that dominated through the early 2020s are giving way to styles with a bit more length on top — textured crops, natural movement, and finishes that don't look overdone.
Think less product, more shape. The goal is hair that looks intentional but not stiff — something that holds through the day without feeling like it's been shellacked in place.
We're also seeing more men open to colour conversations than ever before. Nothing dramatic — subtle highlights, a toned-down money-piece, or simply a toner to neutralise brassiness and add shine. If you're curious but not sure where to start, bring it up at your next appointment. There's a version of it that works for every comfort level.
A Note on Making Trends Work for You
Trends are useful as a starting point — a way of communicating direction, energy, and inspiration. But the best haircut or colour you'll ever get isn't the most fashionable one. It's the one that suits your face, your hair type, your lifestyle, and how much time you actually want to spend getting ready in the morning.
That conversation is always where we start. Bring us your inspiration photos, your wishlist, your concerns — and we'll build something that makes sense for you specifically.
Spring appointments are filling up — book online or call us at (905) 201-3035. We'd love to help you start the season feeling your best.
Why Your Hair Needs a Treatment (Not Just a Trim)
Most people wait until their hair is visibly damaged before they start treating it. Here's why that approach is backwards — and what to do instead.
The Problem with Playing Catch-Up
We see it all the time. A client comes in frustrated — their hair feels dry, looks dull, won't hold a style, or keeps breaking at the ends. And somewhere along the way, a combination of colour processing, daily heat styling, cold winter air, and not enough moisture has quietly taken its toll.
The frustrating truth is that by the time hair looks damaged, it's been struggling for a while. Hair doesn't have a nervous system — it can't send you warning signals. So rather than waiting for a crisis, the smarter approach is building treatment into your regular hair routine before problems take hold.
Think of it the way you'd think about skincare. You don't wait for a problem to appear before you moisturise. The same logic applies to your hair.
What the Steampod Actually Does
At The Edge, our go-to treatment tool is the L'Oréal Steampod — and for good reason. Most heat styling tools work by applying dry heat directly to the hair shaft, which smooths the cuticle but also strips moisture over time. The Steampod takes a fundamentally different approach.
It uses pressurised steam to open the hair cuticle gently, allowing a conditioning treatment to penetrate deep into the cortex — the inner structure of each strand — rather than just sitting on the surface. Once the treatment is absorbed, the steam seals the cuticle back down, locking everything in.
The result is hair that isn't just styled — it's genuinely nourished. Smoother, shinier, more elastic, and significantly more resilient to the kind of everyday stress that causes breakage and frizz.
What's more, because the Steampod uses moisture rather than dry heat, it actually causes less damage than a traditional flat iron — even while achieving that sleek, polished finish. For clients who style their hair frequently, that distinction matters enormously over time.
Who It's For
The short answer: almost everyone. But here's a breakdown by hair type:
Colour-treated hair — Colour processing is one of the leading causes of dryness and brittleness. The Steampod treatment helps restore moisture and elasticity that colour services can deplete, and helps your colour look more vibrant and last longer.
Thick or coarse hair — If your hair takes forever to dry, resists smoothing, or feels rough to the touch, the Steampod is particularly effective. The steam penetration works exceptionally well on dense hair that surface-level products struggle to reach.
Fine or fragile hair — The gentleness of steam means this treatment is actually less aggressive than a standard blow-dry and flat iron combination. Fine hair that tends to break or look limp after heat styling typically responds very well.
Curly and wavy hair — Whether you're looking to smooth and elongate your curl pattern or simply add definition and reduce frizz without losing your natural texture, the Steampod gives your stylist precise control over the result.
Hair exposed to winter conditions — Cold air, indoor heating, wool scarves, static — winter is genuinely hard on hair. February is one of the best times of year to book a treatment, when your hair has had months of seasonal stress and could use a proper reset.
What to Expect at Your Appointment
A Steampod treatment at The Edge is typically done in combination with your regular haircut or colour service — it adds time to your appointment but integrates naturally into the process.
Your stylist will apply a conditioning treatment suited to your specific hair type, then work through your hair section by section with the Steampod, finishing with a smooth, polished result. You'll leave with hair that looks and feels noticeably different — and the effects continue to improve over the following days as the treatment fully settles.
We generally recommend a treatment every 6–8 weeks for clients who colour regularly or use heat tools daily, and every 2–3 months for lower-maintenance routines. Your stylist can give you a more personalised recommendation at your appointment.
Between Appointments: Keeping Your Hair Healthy at Home
A great in-salon treatment is the foundation — but what you do at home determines how long the results last. A few habits that make a real difference:
Use a sulphate-free shampoo. Sulphates are effective cleansers but can strip moisture from treated hair faster than necessary. A gentler formula extends your results significantly.
Don't skip conditioner. Apply from mid-shaft to ends every wash — not just when your hair feels dry.
Lower your heat. Most people style at a higher temperature than they need to. Dropping your flat iron or wand by even 20–30 degrees makes a meaningful difference over weeks of use.
Weekly mask. Even a 5-minute deep conditioning mask once a week adds up. Ask us what L'Oréal Professionnel mask is right for your hair type — the range is genuinely excellent and a worthwhile investment.
Protect before you go outside. A light UV and humidity shield spray is especially useful in summer, but winter wind can be just as drying. It takes ten seconds and makes a real difference.
Your hair is something you live with every single day. Treating it well — consistently, before problems start — is one of the simplest ways to feel better about how you look. We're here to help with the rest.

New Year, Fresh Cut: Why January is the Best Time to Change Your Hair
There's no better time for a hair refresh than the start of a new year.
January has a quiet energy — and that makes it the perfect window to sit down with your stylist, reset, and figure out what you actually want from your hair in 2026. No rush, no holiday chaos. Just a good conversation and a great cut.
Thinking about going shorter? Curious about a fringe? Want to finally commit to that colour you've been saving on your phone for two years? Now's the time.
We're also seeing a big push toward hair health this year — clients are thinking less about dramatic transformations and more about the condition and quality of their hair. If that resonates with you, ask us about our L'Oréal Absolut Repair treatment — it's a game-changer for damaged or over-processed hair.
Holiday Hair: How to Get Glam for the Season
The holidays are the one time of year when going all out is completely acceptable — and your hair should be no exception.
December has an energy unlike any other month. There are parties to attend, family dinners to host, photos to take, and memories to make. After a year of ponytails and practical styles, this is your moment to sit in the chair and say: let's do something special.
At The Edge Hair Studio, December is one of our favourite months — not just because of the festive atmosphere, but because it gives us the chance to help our clients feel genuinely incredible. Here's a look at the styles we're recommending this holiday season, and how to make them work for you.
The Polished Blowout
Sometimes the most elegant thing you can do is let your hair be its best, most natural self — but better. A professional blowout adds volume, shine, and movement that's nearly impossible to replicate at home. It holds through a long dinner, survives a coat check, and photographs beautifully.
Best for: Straight to wavy hair types. Works equally well on shorter bobs as it does on longer lengths. If you have fine hair, ask us about a volumizing treatment alongside your blowout — it makes a noticeable difference.
Style tip: Keep accessories minimal. A blowout at its best doesn't need competition.
Glossy Waves — The Steampod Finish
Our most requested finish this time of year. The L'Oréal Steampod creates waves and smooth styles using steam rather than direct dry heat, which means less damage and a finish that genuinely lasts. The result is that effortless, high-shine wave you've seen on every red carpet — the kind that looks expensive because the hair itself looks healthy.
Best for: Medium to long hair. Works beautifully on colour-treated hair, and is especially effective if your hair tends to frizz in colder, dryer weather.
Style tip: Ask your stylist to leave a few face-framing pieces slightly looser than the rest — it softens the overall look and photographs incredibly well.
The Textured Up-Do
Not every up-do has to be stiff and formal. This season we're loving relaxed, textured up-styles that feel intentionally undone — a loose chignon, a twisted knot with a few pieces pulled out, or a low bun with some volume at the crown. It's the kind of style that says I made an effort without looking like you spent three hours on it.
Best for: Medium to long hair with some natural texture or wave. Fine hair benefits from a light texturizing spray beforehand to give the style something to grip.
Style tip: Pair with a simple earring — a pearl or gold hoop lets the hairstyle breathe while still feeling polished.
A Note on Timing
December books up faster than any other month — and for good reason. If you're hoping to get in before a specific event, we recommend reaching out at least 2–3 weeks in advance. We do our best to accommodate everyone, but our most popular appointment slots (Thursday and Friday evenings, Saturday mornings) go quickly.
If you have a specific date in mind — a holiday party, Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve — let us know when you book and we'll work backward to make sure your hair is at its very best for that moment.
At-Home Tips to Keep Your Style Going
A great salon appointment is only half the battle — here's how to extend your results at home through the busy holiday season:
Sleep on a silk pillowcase. It genuinely reduces frizz and breakage overnight, and keeps blowouts fresher for longer.
Use dry shampoo strategically. Apply it before bed rather than the morning after — it has time to absorb and you'll wake up with more volume.
Avoid over-touching. The more you run your hands through your hair, the faster it falls flat. Style it once, set it, and leave it.
Protect before you heat. If you're refreshing your style at home with a curling iron or straightener, always use a heat protectant. The winter air is already drying — don't add to it.
However you're celebrating this season, we hope you feel confident, comfortable, and completely yourself. That's what we're always aiming for — whatever the occasion.
Book your December appointment online or give us a call at (905) 201-3035. We can't wait to see you.
The Modern Man's Guide to a Great Haircut
A great haircut isn't just about looking good — it's about feeling like yourself.
At The Edge, men's hair is just as much a priority as women's. Whether you're after a clean scissor cut, a tapered fade, or something with a bit more texture and movement, we'll make sure you leave looking sharp.
Our consultation-first approach means we talk through your lifestyle, how much time you spend styling, and what you actually want — before a single cut is made. Sit back, enjoy the atmosphere, and let us do the work.
Coming in for the first time? We recommend booking with our owner for that initial consultation — so we can really get to know your hair.
Fall Into Colour: Warm Tones to Try This Season
The season of rich, warm hues is here — and your hair should be no exception.
As the leaves shift to amber and copper, it's the perfect moment to let your colour evolve too. This fall, we're loving deep caramel balayage, rich chestnut browns, and sun-kissed auburn tones that add warmth and dimension without a dramatic overhaul.
The trick with fall colour? It should look effortless — like you spent the summer somewhere beautiful. Our L'Oréal Professionnel colour lines give us the palette to build that depth while keeping your hair healthy and vibrant through the colder months.
Whether you're looking for a subtle refresh or a full colour transformation, book a consultation and let's find your perfect fall shade.
